PLEASE NOTE: This lot was sold in an online benefit auction where all proceeds went to the Whyte Museum in Banff, Alberta and there was no Buyer's Premium.; I think it is important to remind ourselves to be in awe of the world, to see things 'freshly'. I enjoy looking for beauty in unconventional places, like the oceans from which 'The Deep II' is inspired. Using oil, collage and hot wax on linen, I explore the tapestry, quality and ornate delicacy of microscopic plankton, the earth tinest photosynthesizers which produce over half of our oxygen. In this series, I reflect on the beauty of my subjects and their complex interactions.
